Our ability to function effectively with others in a team is down to a number of factors, which include personality traits, attitudes, behaviours and preferred roles. One of the most important factors, often almost completely overlooked, is the motivational priorities of the individual and of the individual compared with the rest of their team. For teams to grow and thrive they need to be aware of each other’s motivational priorities and be able to fuel the motivators of themselves and other team members.

When you think of conflict, what does it make you think of or feel? Why do we fear conflict and/or avoid it? Why does conflict have a negative connotation? If we all seem to generally think that conflict is uncomfortable, why do we have it? What results can be productive, even if the process of getting there is uncomfortable?

Whatever you think of, conflict comes down to a difference of opinions involving strong emotions. And it triggers different behaviours in each of us, ranging from destructive to productive. In many ways, we need conflict – at least some level of it. And, as you may know, like change, it’s inevitable. Therefore, we should deal with it in ways that can be beneficial.

Participants will learn:

  • How to explore, as individuals we react to conflict
  • Ways that people, based on their DiSC® styles, react to conflict
  • To recognize and curb destructive conflict behaviours and use productive behaviours instead

Transforming Business & Organizations

Most people struggle with communicating difficult change.  The good news though, is that our capability to change is really high!  When we are forced into change (even if it’s unpleasant) we find a way to adapt and make it work, don’t we?  This is because we have the need to survive!  It’s built right into us.  We might do this kicking and screaming, fighting it the whole way, but inevitably we will adapt.

Why change management? Our natural willingness to change when the outcome doesn’t directly benefit us in an obvious reason why we resist. Why?  Because something in our brain want to keep things status quo and we are comfortable.

  • To identify the pressure points of change
  • The importance of being clear and identifying the desired state
  • To tell it like it is, explore obstacles
